Army National Guard State Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major Norris K. McCall serves as the 14th State Command Sergeant Major of the South Carolina Army National Guard. CSM McCall focuses on health, wellness, and morale as well as overall strength and readiness of all Army Soldiers and units throughout the organization.

CSM Norris McCall is a native of Chesterfield, SC and currently lives in Cheraw, SC. He graduated from Chesterfield High School in 1989. CSM McCall joined the South Carolina Army National Guard in 1988 as a member of Service Battery, 3rd Battalion 178th Field Artillery. In 2004, McCall was deployed to Iraq and attached to the
7th Transportation Group, presently known as the 7th Sustainment Group, as convoy security for troop and equipment movement. CSM McCall joined the Recruiting and Retention Battalion in 2005 as a Production Recruiter. He held several duties within the battalion with his last command assignment being the Recruiting and Retention Command Sergeant Major, where he oversaw the state’s recruiting efforts.

CSM McCall is a 2021 graduate of the United State Sergeants Major Academy. His awards and decorations include: Combat Action Badge; Army Commendation Medal with Two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Five Knot Device; Army Achievement Medal with Two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star; Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with Silver Oak Leaf; Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Star; Global War on Terrorism Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device Second Award; Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 5; Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service Ribbon; South Carolina National Guard Governor’s Unit Citation with Two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; South Carolina National Guard Active State Service Ribbon with 3 Silver Stars; South Carolina Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Ribbon with 3 Silver Stars and the South Carolina National Guard Mobilization Support Ribbon.

CSM McCall and his wife Felicia have four children, Joshua, Jordan, Narrie and Sydney.
